Principles & Vision
I believe in a woman’s strength and intuition in childbirth, and her right to make informed decisions surrounding her pregnancy and childbirth. I believe it is especially important for expecting parents to surround themselves with people who believe in their strength, who help them make informed decisions, and who trust them to do so. As a doula, I work hard to be one of those people – encouraging my clients to ask questions and seek information, while trusting their bodies and the birth process. I truly enjoy working with women and their families through pregnancy and in labor, and do so with compassion and without judgment. Pregnancy and childbirth are beautiful and complicated times in a woman’s life, and miraculously normal. My hope as a doula is that I can help you and your family feel empowered, informed and nurtured through the daily miracle of childbirth.
Training & Experience
Childbirth has long been a fascination of mine. After earning my Bachelor’s of Science in agriculture, I felt compelled to pursue my growing passion for childbirth and in 2012, I earned my Labor Doula certification through Birthingway College of Midwifery. I have experience supporting women and their partners in a variety of birth scenarios, including medicated and un-medicated vaginal births, and unplanned and planned cesarean births. I am also certified by Waterbirth International, and am an ICEA certified childbirth educator.
When I am not working with new or expecting families, I keep busy caring for my two amazing children, and I love to spend time outside with my family. On occasion, I squeeze in some personal time with running, gardening (dreaming of my own family farm) and playing piano.

“Michelle is awesome! We loved having her as our doula. There is not enough room here to fit in all our praises for her. She stuck by our sides during our tumultuous birthing experience. I don’t know what we would have done if we did not have her there to assure us that we were all going to be okay. I would not hesitate to recommend Michelle to anyone who wants a doula who will be there for you, support you and assist you through such a special life event!” ~Rema, 2012 ____________________________________________________________
“Michelle performed outstanding service to me (husband) and my family. She was empathetic and respectful of my wishes. She provided excellent support to me in helping my wife. She was an advocate for us with our caregivers. She was constantly trying to find new and useful ways to help my wife cope with pain. She was not afraid to discuss any topic with anyone in the labor room. I would hire Michelle in an instant again. She was fantastic.”~Eric, 2012
“Michelle was steadfast by my side the entire labor with comfort measures and words of encouragement. She was positive and focused and helped me to stick to my birth plan, but still gave me room to make my own decisions when issues arose. She reminded me of the benefits and risks of the interventions and procedures, which helped me to make informed decisions in the heat of the moment. I would definitely recommend her as a doula to any expecting couple. Her demeanor is calm and her energy is professional yet sincere.” ~Caroline, 2014
“My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Michelle! I am so grateful she was our doula for my son’s birth. She was incredibly helpful and very attentive to our needs. She was easy to get a hold of before and after the birth and was always available to answer our questions. During my labor and delivery she did whatever she could to help. She was very encouraging to both my husband and to me. She helped us to both feel confident in my ability to have a medication free birth. The whole experience was beautiful and we’re thankful to have had Michelle help us through it.”~Shannon, 2012 _____________________________________________________________
